Photo setup / Equipment guide

A steady phone makes a better group photo.

You may already have everything you need. Before buying a tripod, check whether you can place the phone securely at the right height.

Start with the scene

A tabletop support can work for a seated group indoors. A standing group usually needs a higher position, so faces are not photographed from below. Outdoors, ground unevenness and wind matter more than how small a tripod folds.

Use a support designed to hold a phone whenever possible. If using a stable surface, make sure the phone cannot slip, tip over, or fall when someone walks past. Never balance it near an edge, water, traffic, or a drop.

Check these things before buying

Clamp widthCompare the manufacturer’s supported width with your phone, including its case. The clamp should not press the power or volume buttons.
OrientationCheck that you can rotate and secure the phone in portrait or landscape without the mount loosening.
HeightConsider the height you need with the actual group. A tiny desktop tripod may be stable but too low for a standing photo.
StabilityCheck the leg spread, surface grip, load rating, and how securely the head locks. Avoid a tall, narrow setup in wind.
Mounting threadIf buying a holder and tripod separately, confirm their attachment specifications match.
Camera clearanceThe holder must leave the lens uncovered and the screen accessible for permissions and remote approval.

You do not need a Bluetooth remote for AllInFrame

The second phone acts as the shutter remote through its browser. A tripod with an included Bluetooth button can still hold your phone, but that accessory is not required for this workflow. Choose the support for its fit and stability first.

Before the group gathers

  1. Fit the phone with its case and check that the clamp is secure.
  2. Place the support on a level, stable surface and lock the head.
  3. Connect the second phone in AllInFrame, check the live preview and lens clearance, then take a test photo.
  4. Leave enough space for the group and keep bags and feet away from the stand.

This is a general checklist, not a review of a particular product. No products are claimed to have been tested for this guide.
